Yes, you can have your own Dynamic Postcards. They are very
effective in promoting your Web site because there is a link
to it on each Postcard.

1. What is it?
---------------

- Dynamic Postcards Generator is a wcCode version 5.0+ program
that will create HTML Postcards for your users.
A user simply fills up an HTML form, and a Digital Postcard is
created for her on the fly. This Postcard will reside on your
server for a configurable period of time,
and an invitation will be E-mailed to its addressee to
"come to your server" and "pick it up"

- Dynamic Postcards uses DHTML (Dynamic HTML) the state-of-the-art
technology to create Digital Postcards for your users on the fly.
Novices and experts alike can create their own postcards on your
server within 2-5 minutes.

- Each Dynamic Postcard has its own random name. It is nearly
impossible to view a postcard without entering its name first,
thus only the sender and the recipient will know it and able
to retrieve it.

- A built in Sample Postcards shows the user what to expect
from this service.

- The user can choose from a library of graphics.

- A HTML page that shows what the created Postcard looks like
is generated on the fly.

- An optional Log file that logs any creation of a new Postcard.

- Up to 3 security profiles can be denied from using this service.

- Can be configured to be used by "logged-in" users only or as
"Public" service.
Remember each postcard sent will bring someone to your site.

- Easy to setup for Novice Sysops/Webmasters

2. Configuration File:
==============================
This program is totally configurable by the SYSOP through the
postcards.cfg file and the *.html templates.
postcards.cfg is a simple text file that the SYSOP can edit to suit his system.
Please open the cfg file in notepad or any other ASCII text editor
and modify it - instruction can be found in that file.
Same goes for the templates. Make sure you keep a copy of the original templates in
case of emergency.
Please note: you DON'T have to edit the templates, do it ONLY if you know what
you are doing.

3. File in this Archive:
==============================
1. postcards.wcx  the actual program
2. postcards.cfg - configuration file
3. A*.jpg - optional graphics you can use for selections
(collected by me from the Internet)
Please use your own graphics since these graphics may be
copy protected.
4. Back.jpg - the postcard background graphics.
5. sample.html - A sample postcard, please edit it manually
and replace all the generic info with your system info.
6. *.txt - make sure to read all the docs!
7. *.html - the templates

4. Installation:
===============================
1. Copy all the *.wcx and *.cfg files to your wildcat directory
(make sure that the long file names are intact in the unzipping process).

2. Edit postcards.cfg as required. Make sure to create the directory per line #2
- let's call it postcards dir, copy all the rest of the Archive to this directory.

3. Create a link <A HREF="/public/code/html-postcards"> Create and send your own Postcards </A>

You can use also the DPOST banner - dpost.gif
<A HREF="/public/code/html-postcards">
<IMG SRC="/public/postcards/dpost.gif" BORDER=0 ALT="Postcard Service" align=middle width=300>
</A><BR>NEW -Create and send your own Postcards.

if you don't want to give access to "Public" users (i.e not logged-in )
change  "/public/code/html-postcards" to "/code/html-postcards"

4. A log file - optional if you defined it in the cfg file -
by default it's enabled and named postcards.log

We recommend that you'll create a postcard and send it to yourself
to understand the process.
Make sure to check your mail afterwards to get the "Postcard Notification"
