Computer Associates International (CAI) has released three
accounting programs that give both networking capabilities under
OS/2 as well as the option of doing your accounting work in a
mixed DOS and OS/2 environment. All modules work with the
company's ACCPAC Plus series of accounting software.

When used together, System Manager/2 for OS/2 and LanPak version
5.1 support 3Com, 3+Open, and IBM LAN Manager running OS/2
servers, as well as both DOS- and OS/2-based workstations. When
you use System Manager/2 with either IBM LAN Manager or 3+Open,
you can use existing DOS-based ACCPAC accounting modules in a
mixed environment without having to modify or upgrade them.

CAI says that regardless of the number of ACCPAC Plus
applications packages you're using, upgrading them to run under
OS/2 requires the purchase of just a single System Manager/2
module. All data from existing DOS applications is completely
compatible with OS/2, and all the applications remain identical.

The third package, Windowing System Manager version 5.1, has
several new features including improved speed, the ability to
scroll backwards in the print window, and the option to run in
combination with System Manager/2 for OS/2.

OS/2 workstations for ACCPAC Plus require 500K of RAM. DOS
workstations require DOS 3.1 or higher and 640K of RAM.

Price: System Manager/2, $245; LanPak, $395; Windowing System
Manager, $195.
