Panasonic has leapt into the getting-crowded "notebook computer"
market with a relatively inexpensive 5.5-pound machine called the
CF-150. Based on an 8-MHz NEC V-20 CPU (compatible with the Intel
8088), the CF-150 offers DOS 3.3 in ROM, 640K of RAM, a 3.5-inch
720K floppy drive, and a CGA-compatible 640 x 200 reflective LCD
screen. The removable battery has a quoted life of more than 4
hours. The CF-150 is available now for a suggested list of $999.
Its physical dimensions are slightly larger than the new Compaq
LTE, but it's a pound lighter.
