A digital audio tape (DAT) peripheral from Archive runs on XTs
and ATs and is optimized for either SCSI-I or the differential
(SCSI-II) interface, Archive says.

It has many similarities with the Tallgrass FileSecure 1300. It
uses the DDS format, has a capacity of 1.3 gigabytes, and is
available in half-height 5.25-inch internal and small-footprint
external versions.

The Python series, however, is based on four direct-drive motors
that eliminate belts and mechanical mode changes, Archive claims.
It also features a built-in serial port for diagnostics and a
512K-byte data buffer. It will be available in February.

Price: $5,000 to $6000.
