With its inportation of the Goupil Golf from SMT-Goupil of
France, the peripherals-only manufacturer, Computer Peripherals,
has entered the business of selling computer systems, the company
says.
 
The Golf is a transportable system that weighs 18 pounds,
measures 15- by 13- by 2.5-inches, and includes your choice of
10-MHz 80286, 12.5-MHz 80286 or 16-MHz 80386SX microprocessors.
A standard monitor features VGA graphics.
 
The 80286 system comes with 640K bytes of RAM (expandable to 4.6
megabytes, a 102-key detachable keyboard, a 3.5-inch
1.44-megabyte floppy-disk drive, two slots for half-length 8-bit
cards, a 20-, 40-, or 80-megabyte hard-disk drive, a socket for
an 80287 math coprocessor, and a carrying case.
 
The 80386SX model comes with 1 megabyte of RAM (expandable to 9),
a socket for an 80387 math coprocessor, and a 40- or a
100-megabyte hard-disk drive.
 
Price: 80386SX, $6495; 80286, $5495; both have a $500 cash-back
rebate with the purchase of each system.
