American Small Business Computers, developer of DesignCAD and
DesignCAD 3D, announced at Comdex ModelCAD 1.0, a CAD program for
the hobbyist. ModelCAD 1.0, designed for the model industry, was
designed in part because several programmers at the company,
active in radio-controlled airplanes, jets, helicopters, and
cars, were dismayed by the number of people performing model
design by hand.

ModelCAD's capabilities include auto-dimensioning, layering,
zoom, and rotate capabilities, the company reports. The program
can handle calculations and measurements such as area,
distance, and perimeter. You can create symbols or use the
included symbols such as ones for railroad track layouts and
more than 90 airfoil symbols.

ModelCAD includes ModelCALC, an airplane analysis program that
will alert you if your design is likely to crash or result in
torn airplane wings.

Price: $99.
