LAS VEGAS (Microbytes Daily News Service) --- Microsoft (Redmond,
WA) demonstrated here at Comdex a new version of Word for OS/2
with Presentation Manager. The word processor will be available
for $495 sometime in 1990, the company says. The application will
be Microsoft's second for the OS/2 graphical user interface,
following last month's shipment of Excel for PM.

Like Excel, the new Word will offer largely the same features as
its Windows predecessor with the added functionality of OS/2,
such as multitasking and threading, virtual memory, the High
Performance File System, and Dynamic Data Exchange. The PM and
Windows versions will share a common file format and IBM
CUA-compliant user interface.
