Preliminary Benchmarks of Some New Low-Weight Computers

These BYTE benchmark indexes are preliminary, since we ran them
on preproduction units, but the results are interesting. The
Compaq is not only the smallest 12-MHz laptop we've tested, but
appears to be one of the fastest as well. Both the new Toshiba
T3100SX and Zenith SupersPort SX are among the fastest 386SX
systems, including desktops, we've benchmarked. None of the
units were equipped with a math coprocessor.

For all indexes, an 8-MHz IBM PC AT = 1. For a full description
of all the benchmarks, see "Introducing the New BYTE
Bemchmarks," June 1988 BYTE.

[1] Benchmarks were run under MS-DOS 4.01, which skewed the
results of the DOS seek portions of the disk I/O tests on the
T3100SX.
