Computone's A La Carte is an bus-mastering 32-bit EISA
communications card that supports several modules for
asynchronous, synchronous, facsimile, and Ethernet
communications.

With the A La Carte board and one C16 Remote Cluster module, you
can support up to 16 serial devices. As many as three C16 modules
can fit on a single A La Carte board to serve as many as 48 users
from a single slot. Or you can use four A La Carte boards with 12
C16 modules in a single computer and serve nearly 200 users.

A synchronous communications module includes 8 asynchronous and 2
synchronous ports, for X.25 and SNA communications capabilities.

To link your X terminals with your Ethernet, you can use the A La
Carte board and an Ethernet TCP/IP gatewey module. A similar
module for facsimile and scanner communications will be available
soon, Computone promises.

Price: Controller Board, $1595; C16 Remote Cluster, $1195;
Synchronous Module, less than $1400; Ethernet module, $695.
