The MP4000 series of A3-size, flatbed desktop plotters from
Graphtec accepts a wide range of media, from standard plotting
paper to overhead-projector film. Three of the four models in the
series feature electrostatic paper-hold. The fourth, MP4100, uses
magnetic hold. All models come with RS-232C serial and Centronics
parallel interfaces as well as switch-selectable General-Purpose
Graphics Language and Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language emulation
command sets.
 
Other features include a built-in 60-degree-tilt stand, pen
sorting, and automatic pen up, return, and cap.
 
The entry-level MP4100 and MP4200 have 8-bit CPUs, microstep
stepper motor drives, and 5K-byte buffers. Plotting speeds ca
reach 50 cm per second and a resolution of 0.00625 mm.
 
The top-of-the-line MP4300 and MP4400 feature 16-bit CPUs and
digital servo drives. They can achieve a plotting speed of 64 cm
per second and a resolution of 0.005 mm.
 
The MP4400 also features a built-in 1-megabyte 3-inch floppy-
disk drive for data storage (up to 152 plot files) and off-line
plotting, in addition to its standard 40K-byte RAM buffer.
 
Price: 128,000 yen for the MP4100; 148,000 yen for the MP4200;
198,000 yen for the MP4300; 268,000 yen for the MP4400.
