#topic(System Message Bases Editor)
#title(System message base settings)
This topic is related to the fields found in WtrConf under
System Configuration, Message base settings, System message bases.

#subtopic(SysMsg Netmail type)
#title(Netmail type)
Select the type of message base you want to use for storing netmail
messages. You should normally set this to *.MSG for compatibility
with other programs.

You must select #hl(*.MSG) here when you have selected #hl(FrontDoor) as
your #link(SysFTN Mailer type)(Mailer type).

#subtopic(SysMsg Netmail path)
#title(Netmail path)
A directory pointing to your netmail directory, or if you don't use a
*.MSG base type a full path (without extension!) to the netmail base.

Examples:

 C:\BBS\NETMAIL\ for a *.MSG base
 C:\BBS\MSGBASE\NET for a Squish base

#subtopic(SysMsg Decode files)
#title(Decode files)
When set to ON IMPORT, WaterGate checks if a message contains
an enclosed file. If so, it extracts the file, writes it to
disk and attaches it to the message. Instead of the file a line
like "Decoded enclosed file: ****" is written in the body of
the message on the location of the enclosed file.

WaterGate can automatically detect and decode enclosed files
which have been encoded using UU-encode, XX-encode and MIME
encapsulation of the type application/octet-stream.

#subtopic(SysMsg Files path)
#title(Files path)
Enter the directory where you want WaterGate to store
extracted files.

You are not required to fill anything when Decode Files
is set to No.

#subtopic(SysMsg Opus date format)
#title(Opus date format)
Set this option to YES if your mailer (FrontDoor, for one)
expects the Opus date format in *.MSG messages instead of
the usual textual format.

It tells WaterGate to use this format in created *.MSG
messages.

A common symptome is that your mailer displays the date
"1 Jan 80" when it expects the Opus date format.

#subtopic(SysMsg Badmail type)
#title(Badmail type)
Select the type of base for your Bad messages, if your message editor
is capable of reading Squish areas you might want to set this option to
SQUISH because this base type is capable of removing messages that
exceed the maximum set for an area. This way your system won't drown
in bad messages if large numbers of messages are received.

If you don't want to store bad messages, select the NONE type.

#subtopic(SysMsg Badmail path)
#title(Badmail path)
This should be a full path to a directory for the *.MSG base type,
or it should point to a message base file (without extension!) in
an existing directory.

Example:

  C:\BBS\BAD\ for *.MSG
  C:\BBS\MSGBASE\BAD for Squish@ and Jam

#subtopic(SysMsg Dupemail type)
#title(Dupemail type)
Select the type of area you want to use for your #hl(duplicate) messages.
If your message editor is capable of reading Squish areas you might
want to set this option to SQUISH because this base type is capable
of removing messages that exceed the maximum set for an area. This
way your system won't drown in bad messages if large numbers of
messages are received.

Normal operation would be to set this option to NONE and remove
all duplicate messages.

#subtopic(SysMsg Dupemail path)
#title(Dupemail path)
This should be a full path to a directory for the *.MSG base type,
or it should point to a message base file (without extension!) in
an existing directory.

Example:

 C:\MAIL\DUPE\ for *.MSG
 C:\MAIL\MSGBASE\DUPE for Squish and Jam

#end

; SysMsg Message Base Settings Editor
;
#topic(Message Base Settings Editor)
#title(Message base settings)
This topic belongs to the fields found in WtrConf under
System Configuration, Message base settings.

#subtopic(SysMsg Auto link)
#title(Auto link)
If you want WaterGate to link messages in areas that received new mail
during a run, set this option to YES. If you run WaterGate often you
probably save time by setting this option to NO, and run "WtrUtil LINK"
once a day.

#subtopic(SysMsg Strip SEENBY)
#title(Strip SEEN-BY)
Toggle this option to YES if you want WaterGate to strip
#hl(SEEN-BY) lines from messages that are imported into your
local message base.

Please note that re-sending messages without their proper
SEEN-BY lines is considered a capital crime in a lot of
networks.

#subtopic(SysMsg Replace tear)
#title(Replace tear)
If you want WaterGate to replace tearlines from locally
generated messages with its own, toggle this option to ON.
Tearlines are also added to messages converted from UUCP
into FidoNet.

Note: For the #hl(unregistered) users of WaterGate, this setting
is ignored and defaults to Yes.

#subtopic(SysMsg Message size)
#title(Message size limit)
Because a lot of the older Fido messages processors and editors
are limited in the maximum size of the messages they can process,
you can enter a maximum size. WaterGate will split oversized
messages into smaller parts.

You can enter separate settings for the *.MSG, Jam and Squish
message base formats. Use zero to prevent messages from being split
into pieces.

The maximum size of messages that are exported into *.PKT files
is the same as for *.MSG files.

The default value is 12000 bytes.
