                explanatory notes for gertext.txt

THe geratol award is shorthand for the 75 meter extra class worked
all states award. tHis is an offshoot of the ARRL issued worked all
states award. TO achieve it, one must work callsigns that can only
be held by an extra class operator, and work them in the extra
class portion of 75 meters. AS with other was awards, one must
receive qsl confirmation of these contacts and submit them to the
geratol awards manager. AS of this writing the awards manager is
ai9l in Illinois, who can also process regular was applications.

these awards are serialized, and hence become an operator's
"geratol" number. fOr more information about the geratol net visit

THe geratol net meets at 0100 UTC from November through april of
each year to assist operators in achieving the geratol award, and
offers 36 additional endorsements and additional awards.

the second number found with appropriate entries is the callsign's
directors' award serial number. Some operators work these serial
number holders to achieve other awards and endorsements.

tHough one of the regulars on the geratol net has written a program
to work in tandem with logeqf to track this operating activity some
may not wish to use this software. rOn Gallo, wr8ol has made this
text file available for those who wish to build their own logging
software or who just might like a handy reference to turn to.
