2.0  INTRODUCTION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  This is my third LORD IGM created from an LADY Script file. I came
  up with concept of making an IGM version of my Gem Trader Scripts
  back in November 2002. Since then, I have completed work on the
  second LADY-Pascal conversion project -- The Nice Hag IGM.

  I began LORD programming in spring 2002 when my friend Michael Preslar
  convinced me to try writing LADY Scripts. In June 2002, I started
  working with my friend Jason Brown's LORD programs, since it was the
  only way to get them updated <G>, at the time. So my "stable" of LORD
  programs, as of early June 2003, is as follows, in chronological order:

  L.O.R.D. Cavern, The Gateway, The Outlands Tavern, LordStat, and
  RHP Toolkit - supported for Jason, since June 10, 2002. ChasWare
  LPEdit, a gift from Charlie Wardick. Started June 19, 2003.

  The Forest Outhouse - adopted from Robert Fogt/Lloyd Hannesson
  on November 11, 2002. Gem Trader IGM begun on November 16, 2002.

  Pawn Shop IGM work started for Chris MacPherson on November 22, 2002.
  The L.O.R.D. Gambling Casino IGM - adopted from Tobin Fricke on
  March 24, 2003. My last LADY Script-based IGM project, The
  Nice Hag, was started on April 07, 2003.

  The original development work of this project, Ruined Castle IGM, was
  started on June 11th, 2003. The first official version was released
  on 07-10-2003. The second official version, this one, is being released
  on May 23rd, 2004.

  Future work will add one or more new wishes, such as for a Sex Change,
  to the Castle Ghost event. Possibly will incorporate additional LADY
  scripts that I have written or that were written by Gordon Lewicky
  into the IGM in the next development cycle, as random events executed
  as the player is returning to LORD.

  I assumed authorship of Turgeon's House LORD IGM in September 2003 for
  Mike Ciesiensky, and was re-released as v3.20 in January 2004.
  IGM is in new development stage as of May 2004.

  My latest and current IGM project, currently being handled by Charlie
  Wardick, is updating Paul Mullins's Realm of Lore to use the ANGEL
  door toolkit. As of mid-May 2004, it is not available for BBS testing
  yet, other than the revised and updated ROLCFG.EXE setup program.

  Contact me if you have any questions regarding ROL or any of my other
  LORD igms and utilities.
  ====================================================================

  ======================= Program Description/Setting:
  You find an old Castle that has a ghost inside. And there are
  various adventures that can be found walking around outside as well.

  If you visit the Ghost, he will grant you small rewards. However, if
  you are greedy, he may kill you, as noted below.

  WARNING: Do NOT ask for a Fairy, when you already have one. You
  WILL be beaten nearly to death. Do NOT EVER ask Ghost a second time
  in same day for a Fairy. If you do, he will either take 3% of your
  Maximum Hitpoints OR he will summon the Grim Reaper. In which case,
  you are executed by him at the Ghost's command. Having a Fairy will
  NOT protect you. The Grim Reaper does not allow Fairies to interfere,
  and sends the Fairy away to its freedom.

  The outer adventures have potential of granting a Horse, a Child,
  some Gems, Healing, Temporary Hitpoints, or some Forest Fights.

  All visits to the Castle put you at risk of running into the Red
  Dragon's Poop -- which can teach you valuable wisdom -- or cause
  severe injury. You can even get killed. If you are killed, and
  have a Fairy, it will always heal you. Dead player without fairy
  who is Level 1-4 is allowed a ONE-TIME rescue by an Angel. Everyone
  else will stay dead.

  Those players who exceed the daily vists per day Limit will ALWAYS
  run into the Dragon Poop event.
  ====================================================================

  Limits: 1. Player can only choose ONE castle adventure per visit.
           2. 1 to 6 Visits per day are allowed.
              04/19/2004 v2.10: Max Visits per day dropped to 6, from 8.

           3. IGM only allows 4 adoptions to take place per day.
           4. Only one Fairy will be granted to a player per day.
              Requesting fairy 2nd time from Ghost can result in Death.
              Player has 67% chance of just losing some Max Hitpoints.
  ====================================================================

  Castle Visitors Log - Is shown on-screen for all players as of v2.19 beta.

  The disk file log version is not viewable by players, and is there to allow
  the sysop/end-user to monitor daily IGM usage. In order for it to work,
  the user MUST specify their Sysop Handle during IGM installation. This
  file RCVISITS.TXT lists players by LORD name, with info on Visits made,
  Kids Adopted, Gold found, Experience Points gained, and Gems Found. It
  does not report negative data, by design.
  --------------------------------------------------------------------

  IGM does not have any interaction other than between customer and Jack.
  There is zero player-player interaction. The IGM should be usable
  on as many nodes as your LORD game/BBS can access. All access of
  LORD's player.dat and lognow.txt files are protected by file locking/
  unlocking routines.
======================================================================

3.0  FILES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The following files are included within The Ruined Castle archive:

FILE_ID.DIZ  - Description file (RUINCAST.diz)
RUINCAST.DIZ - backup copy of archive identifier for BBS usage.
RUINCAST EXE - The Ruined Castle IGM. Setup is included inside.
RUINCAST TXT - Ruined Castle docs - this file.

CCL-APPS.TXT - Info on all of my LORD Programming projects.

* RUINCAST.DAT - Created by IGM when it is installed. Stores sysop
                 name, BBS name, LORD and IGM directory path, and
                 Max Visits per Day values.
* RUINTIME.DAT - Used to keep track of change in Day, Month or Year, so
                 IGM knows internally when to reset its data files for
                 a new day's game usage.
* RUIN-USE.DAT - Binary player database. Tracks all activity inside IGM
                 by players. Is recreated at start of each new game day.
* RCVisits.txt - Disk file listing content of RUIN-USE.dat.
                 Created automatically when IGM is used by sysop or
                 the end-user. Created when RUINCAST REPORT command
                 is entered from DOS Prompt. Req'd: RUIN-USE.dat file.
====================================================================

4.0  INSTALLATION:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    During beta work development, instructions refer to RuinWork.zip.
    Otherwise, you are to use RUIN22.ZIP.

    1. Unzip Ruin22.zip into a LORD sub-directory.  I suggest using
       RuinCast for directory name. By design, the IGM was developed
       to use its own, dedicated subdirectory, but it will work with
       other IGMs provided none of the other igms use files that Ruined
       Castle requires - which are listed above.

         http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/LordApps/ruin22.zip

         http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordigms/ruin22.zip

    2. From DOS Prompt, type: RUINCAST INSTALL

       Follow on-screen instructions, and IGM will be installed into
       your LORD game. IGM announces itself in lognow.txt, and adds
       its entry lines to 3rdparty.dat. That concludes the IGM
       installation process.

C:\INTERNET\LORD\RUINCAST\RUINCAST.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
`#The Ruined Castle `!v2.20

       Your system probably uses a different drive/directory path.
       Otherwise, as of 01-07-04, this is how the default IGM lines
       look like now. I simplified color code use to Light Violet
       for IGM name, and Light Cyan for version info.

    3. If using LordMenu utility, remember to re-run Lordmenu.exe and
       update the 3rdalt.txt menu file. Otherwise, when you enter
       LORD you would not see an entry to run The Ruined Castle v2.0x
       from in the Other Places Menu screen.

       Version Note: LADY Script uses v1.xx numbering, so IGM starts
       with v2.00 for first official release version.
=======================================================================

                                IGM Removal:
    1. Change to where you installed the IGM. Type: RUINCAST REMOVE
       Follow instructions, and IGM will be removed from 3rdparty.dat,
       and the RUINCAST.dat file will be deleted.

    2. Delete the Ruin*.* files unless you think you may want to keep
       them around. That concludes IGM removal process. Also delete
       files like RUINTIME.dat and RUIN-USE.dat, unless you think you'll
       re-install the IGM at a later time.
===================================================================

                            Configuration Update:

    From DOS Prompt type: RUINCAST CONFIG

    Only value that probably will need revision is Max Visits/Day.
    However, have not figured out way in the code for it to list
    the Sysop Handle value, so that will have to be typed in each
    time you use CONFIG.

     -- Follow the on-screen directions. The dialog boxes work
     best using a Mouse. You can use ALT-Y to respond YES to
     a prompt. Be sure to complete ALL displayed config values:
     Max Visits per Day, Sysop's Lord Name.

     -- If you use more than one copy of IGM, verify the IGM
     Directory Path information, while using CONFIG. Also make
     sure you have the CORRECT LORD Path.

     -- Edit 3rdparty.dat to use the current IGM version number.
     -- IF using Lordmenu, update its data files.

    IMPORTANT: Do not try to reconfigure the IGM while LORD is
    running. Strange things might happen, especially if someone
    was playing the IGM at that time on a BBS.
=========================================================

The LADY Scripts: If you want them, they are all stored inside
my dgt-lady.zip file. Along with scripts by my friends Michael
Everett, Dan Stovall, and Gordon Lewicky.

    http://www.fidotel.com/public/camelot/Scripts/dgt-lady.zip

    http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/lady-147.zip (10/07/2003)

05/03/04 Notes: Due to the lack of work since December 2003 on
LORD v4.07 beta, and to the lack of any new USABLE LADY language
functions in over a year, I am NOT doing any new development of
my LADY Scripts. Periodic update of dgt-lady.zip on web-site
is due to inclusion of my Lordapps.htm and Ccl-apps.txt data files
for the most part. If and when LADY adds new functions, I may
resume actual work on my LADY scripts. Donald.

The Ruined Castle LADY Script does NOT feature special interaction
with the Ghost such as the Fairy wish. It also does not feature
the Dragon Poop random event.
==============================================================

Minus LORD color codes, which in general I personally don't use
much myself, this is what the IGM command lines in 3rdparty.dat
should look like. Each person installs programs their own way,
so your directory path will usually be different:

C:\INTERNET\LORD\RUINCAST\RUINCAST.EXE /N* /GC:\INTERNET\LORD
The Ruined Castle v2.20

The actual description entry in 3rdparty.dat will contain
LORD color codes. Which can be changed to user's preference.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: While using this IGM, you may NOT rename any of these files:
       RUINCAST.DAT, RUINTIME.DAT, RUIN-USE.DAT, and RUINCAST.EXE.

       Don't rename, except for backup purposes, the RCVisists.TXT
       file. It is recreated after each IGM usage.
======================================================================

LordMenu information: To acquire LordMenu v1.30 LORD utility, contact
me via Email. Or contact Lloyd Hannesson at dasme@dasme.org. Program
may also be downloaded via web browser from his web-site.
    http://www.dasme.org/techn/index.php

It is also available from various other sources on the Internet,
such as http://www.filegate.net/camelot/lordfile/. Or you can
acquire it from the http://www.nightfallgames.com/files Lord Library
site that is operated by Michael Everett. LordMenu can be found
there in the Lord Utilities section.

Specific URL:  http://www.dasme.org/techn/files/lrdmnu13.zip
    LordMenu was created by Robert Fogt, and turned over through me
    to Lloyd in early 2002. Who provides all support for it.
===============================================================

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Any version of LORD that supports IGMs. Testing was done
     with versions 3.55 through v4.07 beta.

  2. DOS 6.x or later versions. Probably works with DOS v3.xx forward
     as well, but I can't say for sure.

  3. IGM is usable whether LORD is registered or not.
------------------------------

TESTING:
    LORD Lady Scripts, including RUINCAST.ldy, which this IGM is
    based upon, are usable only with LORD 4.05pb, 4.06, or 4.07.

    The Ruined Castle LORD IGM was tested by me using LORD v4.07 beta,
    December 2003 compilation. My beta testers used other versions,
    such as LORD v3.55.

    Current testing of this and my other LORD apps, as of 05-23-2004,
    is done with Dec. 04, 2003 compilation of LORD v4.07. That is the
    last known release beta available of Lord v407 beta.

    My testing was under MS Windows Millenium Edition and MS Windows XP.
    Others will do testing under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, and
    other Microsoft operating systems.

6.0  FEATURES:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    There are three primary choices offered to player: Explore
    inside Castle, Look around outside, or Go back to Town.

    -- Inside Castle, as of v2.00 and v2.20, only the Ghost event is
    available. Player may request Gold, Experience, a Fairy (*), Charm,
    Defense, Strength, or Forgiveness for bothering him (Max Hitpoints).

    Since the IGM allows players to find Horses and Children while
    exploring outside the Castle, the Ghost does not offer them.

      * Requesting Fairy, when you have one, results in beaten
         nearly to death by Ghost.
      * Being greedy and asking Ghost a second time during a day's
         LORD play for a Fairy will result in either a 3% loss of Max
         Hitpoints, or in your Death. (v2.00 IGM).

    -- Dragon Poop2 Random Event: Added in March 2004:
    =========================================
    Based on Gordon Lewicky's LADY Script, DragonPoop, and my
    own revision of it - DragonPoop #2, this random event is
    designed to add some risk to each IGM usage.

    In normal IGM usage, you have a 33% chance of having a
    Dragon Poop encounter while leaving the IGM. Any players
    who ignore the IGM Uses/Day limit will have the event occur
    on EVERY visit that exceeds that limit.

    One scenario results in death. There are two rescues in
    the random event: Angel Rescue and Fairy Rescue. You may
    be rescued by an Angel only if you (a) have no Fairy, and
    (b) are a low-level player. The Fairy Rescue works each
    time you are killed - in DragonPoop ONLY - as long as the
    player has a Fairy. Low-Level players are 1-4 level only.

    Most of the scenarios involve Hitpoints injury, and loss
    of Strength Points sometimes.

    The Angel Rescue does NOT apply inside the Castle. As usual,
    if you are killed inside the Castle, you will not be revived.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    At a later date, when other internal Castle events are added
    such as Castle Library and Vampire Encounter, if an event
    causes death, Fairy Rescue will be allowed for it probably.
    =========================================================

    -- IGM Usage Changes, version 2.04+:  March-May 2004

    The RUINCAST REPORT command was modified to display the
    content of RCVISITS.TXT on-screen automatically after a
    8-second delay. Data is White on Black, as I've been unable
    to get ANSI Lord color codes to work in this IGM component.

    -- The Dragon Poop encounter that gives player Experience
    Points is limited to maximum reward of 25 Million points per
    IGM use. Since the IGM allows multiple visits each day, the
    Experience Points reward -- for the entire IGM -- has an overall
    max limit of 50 Million points for each day. Once the player
    reaches 50 Million exp. points, they will not receive any
    further points that day. The only IGM event that offers
    a huge amount of wisdom points is Dragon Poop #2, but the
    player must risk death each time it is executed.

    -- Experience Rewards from Castle Ghost: April 2004:
    Level 1-2 players are limited to 75 points times Level.
    The amounts granted for Level 3-6 players are similarly
    limited, as of version 2.20, to further ensure that the
    IGM does not over-balance a user's LORD game (hopefully).

    -- Dragon Poop #2: LADY script vs IGM event: April 2004
    In the LADY Script, there are six random event scenarios.
    For the IGM, I added a seventh scenario. This one causes
    player to have broken leg and blood loss injury, which is
    processed as a 15% strength points penalty, and a 20%
    Hitpoints penalty. One of the original scripts event
    scenarios was changed in v2.19 beta to cover player getting
    a broken arm, and a sprained ankle. It reduces their Defense
    points along with Hitpoints.

    -- Fixed glitch where the IGM did not process commands that
    were based on the BBS Name value. Primarily only affected my
    own IGM usage.

    -- As of 05-20-2004, I've decided that all players will be
    seeing the IGM's Visitors Listing screen(s), instead of just
    the sysop user player. Is now shown following the Stats Screen
    during IGM exit.

    -- Also, as of 05-20-2004, whenever the player is visiting the
    IGM in excess of the Max Visits/Day value, the IGM now displays
    on the "Go home and get some sleep" screen, how many visits they
    have made so far during the day.
    ==================================================================

    No timetable for these IGM changes:

    -- Later versions will have Castle Library event, and Vampire
    Event. The latter will have 20-25% chance of killing player.

    I will have to study up on some other LORD igms, such as Vampire
    of Shadow Vale, to determine what my own Vampire event will do.

    One definite update for the IGM: In next development cycle, I
    will allow players to ask the IGM for a Sex Change. And possibly
    I will allow players to wish for a new Skill Point.

    -- Outside Castle, Exploration. Has Three events: Find Child,
    Find Horse, or Find Gems. If adoption is denied, unless reason
    is that player has reached LORD's 32,000 Kids limit, you are
    granted 25 temp Hitpoints.

    -- Leave Castle, Left/Right Path. Depending on path chosen,
    you get possible Healing or Temporary Hitpoints, or you get
    a few Forest Fights.

    -- Random Events: Currently, the user has a 33% chance in
    regular visits of the Dragon Poop event being executed as the
    player is returning to LORD.

    At least one other random event may be added later, possibly my Charm
    Tax LADY script event, or Gordon Lewicky's TaxMan Lady script event.
    ================================================================

    Note: Stats screen gives accurate reporting of Skill points and
    Skill use points when they exceed 40, unlike LORD itself. If a
    Skill is 40+ points, the word (MASTERED) is shown beside it.
---------------------------------------------------------

Archive/Program Version Info:
   * v2.00. 07-10-2003. Used v2.00 for first release.
   IGM does everything the LADY script and has additional events.

   * v2.20. 05-23-2004.  Second release is version 2.20.

   * Next version: Castle Ghost: Sex Change wish. Random Event #2.

     Possible inclusion of either Castle Library event or of Vampire
     Encounter event. I may do both, or just one.

11.0                             DEDICATION:
                     To Dan Stovall and Michael Everett.
======================================================================

12.0 No support is currently available for LORD/32 to run LORD IGMs.
  Due to my lack of Windows programming knowledge, *IF* 32-bit igms
  versions are made of my LORD IGMs, I may have another LORD author
  handle that. I also can not provide support for any of my LORD
  IGMs if they are used with LORD/x, due to my lack of Linux knowledge.
