Source code to all of his programs lost. You're in a maze, and
it's difficult to find an exit, just to quit playing.  Info provided
by Jay: Forest of Intrigue Hints:  Each location in the IGM is based on
a 7 digit number that can spell messages, or is just a numbered
sequence. For example:  In The Forest Of Intrigue:
2222222 - Exit, 9482438 - Wacky Witches, 4325378 - Healers Hut,
3864366 - Dungeons Of Intrigue.  In the Dungeons Of Intrigue:
2222222 - Exits To Forest, 8342849 - Drow Elves, 8735234 - Healer.
In either Place: 7822769 - Is an Ad For The Old BackAlley Support BBS.

There are additional locations that can be found by using the letters
from a telephone and following the corresponding directions.  I imagine
they are related to the LORD game.  I will work on all the locations,
and in the meantime, if anyone finds a new location and wants to send
me the 7 digit code for it, they can email it to jay@bacalley.net.
IGM will work in an FOI directory, but you have to move its files
there manually.  The Install program does not move FOI.MON to right
location.  That has to be done manually.  You may also need to edit
the IGM's config file.

Gender-neutral usage:  Allows users to buy/sell horses for gems.
Females get to Flirt with Reaper, the owner.  Seducing him by "Asking
to see his Longsword" yielded 100 Charm points, 1,000 exp. points,
and 1 Lay.  Males get to Challenge Reaper's strength.  When he is
killed in your fight, Level 11 player got 21 Gems.  Even after killing
him, you can still do the Horse transaction if desired.

Two primary options:  Play with Slot Machine, Visit the Bar.  Playing
slot machine, you bet varying amounts, which depend on how much you win
each time.  If you win 3 of 5 times, you get to meet the Bartender.  He
shows you a Key, asks you if it is Gold or Silver.  Gold choice - told
wrong answer, left igm without reward. Silver choice: Allowed upstairs
to meet his three girls: Cuddles, Missy, and Big Red.  Chose to visit
Cuddles first. Told to select from one of 5 boxes.  Choice didn't work,
nothing received from IGM visit.  Visited Missy.  Three options given:
1) Compliment her attire (skimpy lingerie).  Got 2,590 gold.  2) Ask her
for a blessing.  And 3) Tell her you came to rescue her.

Analysis: From 2 game uses, just don't see much value to this IGM.
Will continue looking at it for a week.  Works good, No installation
problems encountered.

Kick Butt option with gate keeper. Latter not tried.  Talk to Man.
It is Marc, who tells you about the IGM's features, and gives you
bag of gold - amount not shown.  Places to go to: Marc's Armory,
Hotel, Training Grounds, Bank, Saloon, Pleasure Palace, and Go
Spelunking.  Armory offers weapons/armour, but only 12 offerings.
Does NOT give the player any money for old equipment.  Not usable
until registered (see note): Help option in Armory, Hotel, Bank,
Saloon (2 of 3 options), and the P. Palace.  Training Grounds:
Offers charm, hitpoint, experience, strength, or defense training.
Each one is 50% of success. Rewards/penalties are not specified
as to amount.  Each one can be used more than once.  Saloon: Get
beer - several choices given. Selected one, given more strength,
amount not given.  See bartender in Teddy, Get a man (used IGM as
female character) - these don't work in shareware program. In the
Spelunking, you can search for Gold, or for Emeralds and Gems.
Whatever you find, you pay a commission to the helpers. IGM does
NOT give amount of commission.  This part also does NOT work anyway.
Gold found was miniscule 315 gold;  Told I found 33 gems.  Upon
igm exit, actually had negative gems entry.  Upon exit option,
you are told by Marc that your entrance fee is refunded.  5 forest
fights stolen from you by gatekeeper are also returned.

Analysis:  Author is teenager.  Lots of spelling errors; lousy
rewards;  and bad player record data handling exist.  Is a beta
program.  Further work may be done on IGM by Marc.

Started evaluation with 1999 version. Given 375 gold in stocking
by Santa.  You choose one of 8 stockings, colored Green, Red, Blue,
Orange, Silver, Gold, Yellow, and Purple.  Chose green box. got
6 strength points.  Later in IGM, it says something about you giving
something to another player.  Post-game viewing of changed files,
saw in a Mail*.dat, something about giving a skill point to someone.
Very pretty Christmas season poem screens, with beautiful ANSI
Christmas trees, etcetra.  Basically for use during Christmas holiday
season, but can be used year-round as well.

player who enters the IGM gets between 1 and 1,000 Gold AND between 1

and 10 Charm; 2) between 1 and 10 HP, plus gold to Heal, with a Tip for
the Healer;  3) between 1 and 10 defense;  4) Between 1 and 3 Skills;
5) Between 1 and 10,000 Gold.  Each GIFT GIVEN to another player will
be:  Between 1 and 1000 Gold; OR between 1-3 charm, OR between 1-10 HP
plus gold and tip for healer, OR between 1-3 skill points.

In the Armour Shop or Weapons Shop, the Command Line on Purchase
listings gives the player's current Gold on Hand amount.  Note
before you can buy a new weapon/armour, you have to sell the
old one.  And you don't get to haggle over its value.  When you
sell something, you never get more than around 25% of its cost.
Haggling for purchase price usually worthless, as it only changes
a few thousand either way.

                       Flirting With Violet in the Inn:
                       --------------------------------
The beautiful Violet is Turgon's daughter, and is the desire of every
male warrior in the LORD realm.  Everyone suffers while she is
married to a lucky warrior, because she stops working at the Inn.
Her replacement, Grizelda, is extremely ugly.

Your choices depend on your charm level.  Options are Wink, Kiss her
Hand, Kiss on Lips, Sit her on your Lap, Grab her Backside, Carry
her to bed, Marry Her.  The reward is in Experience points, and
is dependent on your game Level.  See the Flirt with Violet Table
for specific info.

During your marriage with Violet, if it lasts more than a day, you can
receive a Child some days from her.  As your wife, if she's agreeable,
when you take her to bed, you get 400 or more experience points.  The
notices are delivered to you when you enter the game each day during
the marriage. When you take Violet to bed, as your wife, she'll
occasionally turn you down, because she has to wash her hair.  The rules
to follow while married to Violet are as follow, in order to keep her
happy and making babies for you.  Do not flirt in any way with another
female, nor can you accept a flirt.  She doesn't appreciate it when you
have a little meeting even with another NPC from an IGM.  If it changes
your Lays score on the Old Man's Table (in the Dark Cloak Tavern), and
she was not the one to do it, she will either divorce you, or not give
you a baby for that day.  You must also increase your charm daily, as
(some LORD play guides say) you will lose up to 5 charm points each day
while you are married to Violet.  The marriage seldom lasts more than a
week.

Under LORD v4.0x, Divorce with Violet, Seth, other player drops you 50%
in charm level.  Does not matter if you divorce them, or they divorce
you apparently. If using LORD 3.xx versions, the drop is to 50 Charm for
guys, and 30 Charm for girls.

According to Suzanne Franklin's sflord4.htm file on Kiteria's Korner,
neither Violet or Seth will visit the Heart Shaped Bed with a person
who is married to another.  She will tell the guys they are a "Dirty
Old Man", and Seth is just plain NASTY!  You will NOT like what he
calls a married warrior who inadvertently or otherwise asks him to
bed.  Both encounters are always recorded in the Daily News.

Notes about bedding Violet:  Three known results: 1) Get a long session
of rewarding sex with her.  2) Get told she has to "wash/do her hair".
3) possibility that LORD will crash.  Happened to me once, in v4.06.

                        Flirting With Seth in the Inn:
                        ------------------------------
Seth is the singing Bard who is so wonderful that at times he will
double your Bank balance during his singing one day.  For ladies
he is THE catch of a lifetime.  As Seth's wife, you are under the
same rules that apply to Violet's husband.  Seth does allow his
wife to visit him at work, and he will allow you to flirt with him.
But he doesn't feel you should do it often.  If you flirt too much,
you make him unhappy.

Your choices depend on your charm level.  Options are Wink, Flutter
Eyelashes, Drop Hanky, Ask the Bard to Buy You a Drink, Kiss the
Bard Soundly, Completely Seduce the Bard, and Marry Him.  The reward
is in Experience Points and is based on your Level. See the Flirt with
Violet Table for specific info.  Example: Sleeping with Seth/Violet
at Level 6 gives the player 240 exp. points.  At Level 12, the reward
would be 480 exp. points.

Each baby Violet/Seth gives a player results in an extra Forest Fight
each day.  For ladies, if you avoid the clutches of other males,
including NPCs in IGMs, Seth will bless you with a child every day.
If Seth is not happy, he doesn't tell you why, and doesn't give you
a baby either.  A "White Wedding" results if you have enough charm
and have NEVER been with any one else.  In other words, you're a
virgin when you marry.  The player receives 5,000 experience points,
the envy and respect of all other warriors, and the rare event is
announced in the Daily News.

Seth can be made to "Falter" if your charm is extremely high, during
his marriage to another lady warrior.  If you succeed you get a special
experience point reward, and a Daily News announcement.  And his wife
gets sent a message that another woman has successfully flirted with her
husband.  The woman who can make him falter would rival Aphrodite, and
be absolutely stunning.  It is advised that you find out what his wife's
charm level, and then get 250 more Charm than she has.  When you try to
flirt with him, he'll tell you that you are X number of charm points
away from even being considered a woman.  That hints at how much charm
points you need.  If you're told you are silly, then you are so far away
from having enough charm to get his attention that its funny.

Notes on bedding Seth:  Two results known.  1) Get the sex and
experience reward.  2) Get "I'm too tired" message from him.

give birth, and Lord lets you give the baby a name.  Pretty neat!
Never had seen this one happen before!  And the healers didn't charge
money for the childbirth services!

healer, diagnosed with Herpes. Are NOT healed, and are left to
start game with 1 usable Hitpoint.

                     Random LORD Events - In the Forest:

Encounters in Forest with Old Hag:

  When you meet the Old Hag, she will ask you for a Gem.  If you
  have Temporary HP on hand, say no.  If the game you are playing
  has crashed previously while giving her gems, do not give her one.
  If you are below Max HP due to injury, she will heal you for the
  gem.  If you are at Max HP, she will give you 1 new Max HP, which
  comes Healed. If above Max HP, the temp HP is destroyed, and you
  get one new HP.  Saying NO will not result in injury or penalty.

  *IF* you offer her a gem, and you don't have any, you WILL be hurt.
  Guys are kicked in the groin (and you sing soprano awhile), reducing
  you to one usable HP.  Get to the healers immediately.  Note that
  those with High HP levels, will need a LOT of money for the healing.
  50,000 Gold will usually handle any needed healing.

  The reward from the Old Hag is simple.  You get 1 new HP for 1 Gem.
  It comes healed automatically.  The Inn's bartender charges 2 Gems
  for each Hitpoint.  So, a 1-for-1 exchange is better always than
  a 2-for-1 exchange, especially considering the cost of healing.

  Those studying the Thief Skill should hold on to 1 gem for the Guild.
  Use other gems in-game to get the Hag's free Hitpoint.  Or use gems
  in Dark Cloak Tavern to obtain player information.  Chance, the
  bartender, will give you some info on other players for 2 gems per
  player.  Stuff such as Gold in Bank, Weapon/Armour name.

                     Blackjack Game with Dwarf in Forest:
Appears to be limited to bets of 5,000 gold or close to that.
Good way to increase your gold if you can win.  Can cause LORD
to crash, reason unknown, in version 4.06 game.  Saying No to
dwarf does not result in injury or loss of forest fight.

Hear Angels Singing - Find Gems.  Amount varies based on Level.

                 LORD v4.0x Game Play Analysis Notes:

In LORD v4.00a forward, the following problems exist.  In v4.00a,
the Jennie Code can cause games to crash, as can the "Give gem
to Old Hag" event.  Jennie codes seem to work reliably in v4.02+
versions.  One crash noted during "Take Violet to bed" sequence in
the Inn, in v4.05.  One crash noted during Blackjack game event in
v4.06.  While using v4.05, at one point, noticed it was not properly
reporting a player's Skill daily use points.  Bank balance problem:
When balance is near, or at, 2 Billion, the daily Interest computation
can destroy player's bank balance completely, listing it at ZERO.

Data file corruption can result if you start playing LORD v4.06,
and then try to revert to a previous version, without starting
new player records.  This can result in the bartender cheating
customers in gems transfers for Hitpoints and Strength points.
It can also lead to player record screwups such as listing a player
as having killed the dragon, who has never seen him.  Running
UPDATE.EXE will NOT correct those problems.  Only way noticed to
correct such problems is to register the game, then use Player
Editor to correct all erroneous data.

Problems observed while trying to combine characters from two LORD
games into one.  Player Editor will let you create a character, but
LORD does not recognize them unless they are created in-game. There
is no Import utility usable for adding player records from one game
into another.  Steps required to do this, based on experience:

1) Make a PKZIP backup of each game's data files, in case of problems.
2) Open secondary LORD game for each character.  Write down their
player stats.  Or use Lordcfg Player Editor to note down the info.
3) Switch to primary game that you are going to keep using.
4) Enter game and create new character for each player to be
transferred. Repeat as many times as needed.
5) Run LORDCFG.  Using Player Editor, if game is registered, open each
newly added player's record, and update them from the Game stats
you wrote down from the second LORD game.  Repeat for each new player.
Try not to cheat.  Run LORD again for each of the new players, and
verify the new data shows up for them.  If satisfied with everything,
delete the temporary backup files, and resume regular play.
(6) Ask Michael to create some kind of Import Player info utility,
that will make such action easier to do.  When finished, delete the
old secondary LORD game you are through using.

Suggestion:  It is always a wise choice to have your LORD game's
start.bat file automatically create/update a backup archive of the
Lord directory files, and similar ones for all installed IGMs that
have separate directories.  That way should a game bomb in some
fashion, or a player's data gets corrupted real bad, the sysop can
restore from that backup, losing only one session's LORD play stats
changes.  Some IGMs even recommend doing this before installing them.
    Before running IGM uninstall programs, make a backup of your
3rdparty.dat file, in case it gets corrupted.  Not all igms can
delete their own entry lines properly without messing up the file.

Observations on Death Knight Dungeon Test.  Mostly validated from
few weeks of play:  The first time you go to Dungeon, on Odd day,
choosing Decapitate works.  If even day, on 1st visit, use Release
prisoner.  Subsequent same-day visits, reverse your choice.  It
will not be the same twice.  Mystical Skill test:  Usually best
to start at 50, then go up/down by halves.  Best way known to
maximize chances of winning.

LORD v3.55 -> v4.06 problem:
In both versions, all messages to player are missing words at start
of each line. Plus text wraps around to top of screen, overlaying
previous screens. This applies to romantic mail, bank transfer notices,
IGM notices.  Michael knows of problem, bug is very elusive, and he's
been trying to find it for several months or longer.

Other bugs in LORD 4.06 are listed on the Lord Legacy web-site in
the Lord Wishes web-page, available from main menu.  Game also has
several statements listed incorrectly in the LORD.DOC and REGISTER.DOC
files, some of which contradict each other.  Example:  LORD.DOC
says you can buy both LORD & LORD2 for $20.  The register.doc file
says the price for 2 programs is $25.  Very confusing.

                     The "JENNIE" Code - Condensed notes:

Starting the game first time in the day, if it says you are in "High
Spirits", you go straight to the Forest, and type JENNIE.  Then you
type a four letter word to describe her.  Only a few options are of
value, listed below.  Two other ways known to access JENNIE: (1)
Have an IGM restore/set you to High Spirits. Example: Food tasting
in kitchen in Outlands Tavern can do this.  (2) Meet Olivia, and
get kissed. This puts you in High Spirits.

                            Jennie codes listing:
                        ------------------------------
These five codes have been confirmed to be valid for LORD 4.06:
1) LADY - Receive Gold - 1,000 Gold per level.  2) FOXY - Receive 1
Gem.  3) BABE - Get 1 extra forest fight.  4) SEXY - Get 1 extra
Player fight.  5) HOTT - Receive 15% temporary hit points.  Useful
when going into a player fight, OR when you are getting ready to
face the Red Dragon.  Otherwise, visit healer, get healed.  The
excess HP is translated into Gold by them.

The other known options, for LORD, up to v4.00, are of no known
value.  In LORD v4.05, Michael Preslar removed one code, and added
one new code.  And like Seth, he won't say what they are. Each Code
is a 4-letter word.  No cuss-words are included/allowed I think.
COOL - she thanks you for using it, gives no reward.
DUNG - you really are turned into a frog. Two choices: hop around
   on forest floor or Apologize.  Once you apologize, you get to be
   human again.
CUTE, NICE, DOLL: Used by Female player. Message is "Perhaps if you
were male you might understand better". No reward/penalty seen.

Not tested - (with result wrote down): STAR, DUMB, UGLY, and FAIR
(supposed to remove your Flirt option for the day).

                        Full Skill Mastery - Rewards:
                        ------------------------------
A Skill is Mastered when you reach 40 Skill points.  You get to
continue earning Skill points until you reach 100 points.  Once
a skill is mastered, View Stats screen says MASTERED, and does
not give current skill point level. When you master a Skill, you
are given the opportunity to switch to learning a new one. Two
of the Skills give Masters a reward; one doesn't.

1) The Master Death Knight.  You find the castle, or are taken
to it. Don't remember which it is.  Anyway, they heal any wounds
you have automatically, and give you the "energy" for a new DK
Skill use that day.  Extremely valuable.

2) The Master Mystic.  Sorry fellows you still have to pass the
old Test. If you win, the Old Man grants you 4 extra Use Points
for that day.  Also valuable.
--------------------
3) The Master Thief:  You meet the Guild under a tree.  They say
hello, apologize for bothering you, and leave.  No reward.

So in general, it is usually best once you have mastered all of
the skills to be a Master Death Knight.  See the Master Mystic still
has to pass a test to get a reward from the Old Man, but the Master
Knight receives his reward just by finding the castle.  And since
it heals all wounds you have not already healed, with no cost to
you, it is far better for the player.

Master fights:  If you are unworthy, he takes your weapon leaving
you embarassed.  He then refuses to allow another challenge that day.
Any Hitpoint damage incurred in a Master Fight is healed by your
master, whether you win or lose.  Winner receives new Hitpoints,
Strength, Defense, and 1 new Skill point.  For Mystics, the Old
Man appears for every 4th Skill point obtained here, and teaches you
a new Skill.  This doesn't happen when the Skill point comes from
an IGM.

                            The Red Dragon Battle:
                            ----------------------
There are two results:  You either get killed by the Dragon, or you
kill him.  Players killed by the Dragon lose only gold-in-hand and
their life.  So you can't play any more that day.  You do not lose
experience points like you would if killed by a monster, other player,
or NPC IGM character.  What happens to Winner:  You get an additional
Romantic Mail to send, if you have already used that.  You are
acclaimed Hero of the Realm by the Village, kissed by Violet.  Then
you are returned to Level 1.  You lose your Bank Balance, Weapon,
Armour, Hitpoints, Strength/Defense Points, and Experience Points.
You keep your earned Skill points.  I believe you also keep Children,
and Charm Points.  You may also keep your Horse and Fairy, if you
have them.  Whether you retain gems on hand I don't remember.

Notes on Miscellaneous Costs in LORD game.

Inn Rooms acquisition notes:
Level 1 - Not allowed to talk to bartender.  But (G)et a Room works.
Room cost is 400 gold. Level 2 - A room costs 800 gold.  Level 3 -
Cost goes up to 1200 Gold.  Level 4 - Room cost is 1600 Gold.
Appears to be 400 * Level formula.  No real safety in a room, as
other players are allowed to bribe bartender for room key, and will
attack you in your sleep.  Level 9/10 players with Charm over 112
points are given Room in Inn for free.

Cost for Bribing Bartender - Is 1600 Gold * your Level number.

If you are playing in Local Mode, skip buying a Room.  Put all
of your gold into your bank account, to earn compound interest.
Bank interest rate is 10%.  One only gets interest for days you
enter LORD game, and play a Character.  If you can get a Room
for Free, however, take the room.  Only dummies pass up something
that is FREE.

In Forest, type B at prompt.  Buzzard/vulture picks up your gold and
delivers it to the Bank.  Takes ALL gold on hand.  Primary value is
to save time.  You skip the trip to town, the deposit transaction
work, and the return trip to the forest.  Secondary value:  Once
you are told by Olivia where the Prince/Princess is, you can NOT
leave the Forest.  If you leave, the location is changed, and you
risk finding the Chest Monster instead.  So the Buzzard becomes
even more useful then for sending your gold to the bank.

                            Skill Training Notes:
                        ==============================
Death Knight Castle Dungeon Test.
If the day is odd-numbered, Execute the prisoner.  If the day is
even-numbered, Defend him.  Usually works, but sometimes doesn't,
especially on first day of a month. Often the right result for a
test will remain the same for the second test if you get a second
one in a day's game.  After that, it will reverse the correct
answer.

Skill Training:   Thieves' Guild.
They give you a Skill Point for one gem.  If you don't have one,
just spit at them, and they will let you go.  Usually best to always
hold onto one or two gems for this purpose while studying Thief
Skill.  Otherwise, convert gems as you get them with the bartender
at the Lord Inn.  Or give them to the Hag, for the free Healed
Hitpoint.

Skill Training:   The Old Man's Hut.
You have to guess a number, in six guesses or less, between 1
and 100.  Sometimes the correct number for one test will be the same
the next time you find the Hut.  Numbers are chosen at random, so
use own judgement in number guessing.  At times, it appears the
correct answer will be 1 above/below your last answer.

Skill Training:   Turgon's Training Camp.
Win a Master Fight, and you receive a Skill Point unless you
are fully mastered in the currently selected Skill.  If I recall
correctly, if you fully master a Skill, Turgon lets you choose
the next skill to pursue.

LORD v4.0x Notes:  Once user fully masters a skill with 40 points,
some IGMs will allow you to continue earning skill points up to
100 points per skill.  LORD itself, as of v4.06, does not award
any additional skill points.  Either from the skill tests or from
level advances in Turgon's training camp.

      Skill point for the skill being pursued.

Lord Wheel: If you guess puzzle correctly, you get a Skill point.

Free World:  Request Skill point at the Wishing Well.
Barak's House:  Read a book to Barak.  Books with these titles -
    "Dirty Deeds", "Magic Use", or "Fighting" - will give
    you a skill point in Thief, Mystic, or Death Knight.
Sherwood Forest:  Wish Health & Happiness to Lady Marion.
Turgon's House:  Can get Skill point from looking at books
    in his bedroom sometimes.  Doesn't care what Skill you're
    pursuing.
Felicity's Temple: In the Statue Room, you may pray to one God.
a) Mages pray to Karadoc, are given the Guess my Number test.
b) Thieves pray to Vindicator, and meet the Thieves Guild. The
standard Skill Point for a Gem routine.  And c) Knights pray to
Faethor. You are taken to the DK's Dungeon for the standard test.

in my BBS playing days.  Much easier to keep track of what happens
in an IGM when one can log the BBS session, then read/edit the
session logs.  Don't know if one can do that when playing LORD
via Telnet.  Does anyone know of a way to capture LORD screens
while playing in Local Mode, on a Windows system?

  If you receive Skill points from an IGM, you do NOT see these
  messages.  You only see them in LORD when you encounter the
  Old Man at his Hut, or win a Master Challenge Fight.

  Starting out as a Mystical warrior, you are allowed to Pinch
  a monster or player opponent.  At Level 12, a Pinch can kill
  some monsters.

  An old man with a long white beard suddenly appears next to you.
  "You're ready for your next lesson boy!" "You ever been chased by
  a monster that just wouldn't quit?  I have, Muh wife!  Heehee! In
  a case like that there is only one thing to do!  Disappear!"  The

  This is seen when you achieve 4 Mystical Skill Points, and you
  receive the ability to Disappear during a fight.  It transports
  you away from either a monster or a player and stops the battle.

  the amount of damage your opponent can give you in an attack.

  This is seen when you achieve 16 Mystical Skill Points, and you
  learn Shatter, the best Offensive weapon a Mystic warrior can
  have.

  The old man vanishes as quickly as he appeared.  You have mastered

  This is seen when you achieve 20 Mystical Skill Points, and you
  learn the art of Mind Healing.  You now can heal yourself
  completely with only a thought during a fight with a monster,
  player, or the Red Dragon.

  Most players switch to Thief or Death Knight after mastering
  Mystic.  Then return to obtain Full Mastery later.  Since Mystic
  is the hardest to learn, most players save it for last.  When a
  player masters Mystic entirely with 40 skill points, they can use
  Mind Heal twice;  Shatter could be used twice;  and Heat Wave
  can be used five times.  So if you save the special attacks until
  they are really needed, they may save you several times in a game.

  Assumption:  Assuming you had 48 Mystic Skill Use Points, you
  might be able to use Shatter 3 times.  Not sure if this is
  possible in LORD however.

                LORD GAME -- Encounters in Forest with Olivia:

  If you find Olivia in the forest, first time, get in her head, and
  she tells you which place to go to if you find the "kidnapped
  damsel" stuff.  You may not get any reward from it, but at least
  you won't get the chest monster if you choose to try to rescue the
  Damsel.  Or you can kiss her head, and she tells you that you are
  in HIGH SPIRITS, which gives you a new chance at getting something
  from Jennie Garth in the forest.  Most useful when you start games
  in LOW SPIRITS, or if you just need a benefit from Jennie again.
  The Mess Around option gives you Experience points.

  The HIGH SPIRITS message DOES NOT give you a second chance with
  Violet and Seth's singing at the Inn.  All it does it let you use
  the Jennie code a second time if already used; or if you entered
  LORD with Low Spirits.

The location will change.  But that place is where you will locate
the Princess who needs rescue, if you get the Rescue princess event
in the Forest later in the game.  The reward from the Princess is
at Level 6, (A) Get a new Lay, (B) get 720 exp. points, and (C) get
18 Gems.  Level 8 player receives 24 gems.  Level 10 player: 2,000
exp. points, got laid, got 30 Gems.  The locations are: Gannon Keep,
Penyon Manor, Dema's Lair, and Fortress Liddux.

Result for Female players:  Get to rescue a prince.  Find two
men in Tower.  Not sure if this happens always or randomly:
Messenger rushes in, says prince's father has been killed. You
leave empty-handed.  If there is a reward, have not seen one.

  believe - all you know for sure is this man slew her, and put her
  head in this cave to rot.  The problem is it didn't.

  "I don't know!  Maybe I'm charmed, maybe I'm cursed.  I don't
  know." "I'm going to find 'em!  And find out what happened to the

                              Notes on Healing:
                   ========================================
These are the regular methods in LORD for Healing:

1.  Visit the Healers - you pay them gold and get Healed.
    The Cost goes up with each level achieved in game.  As you gain
    new hitpoints, the cost of healing them increases.
2.  Get kissed by Fairies in the Forest and receive free Healing.
3.  Find the Garden and get Healed, and get 1 new forest fight.
4.  Find the Merry Men and get Healed.
5.  Master Challenges - Full Healing regardless of win/loss.
    If you lose fight, he heals you, but you can't see him again
    that day.  If you win, all hitpoints lost during fight plus
    the new ones, are Healed automatically.  NOTE: Not sure what
    happens if you had Temporary HP going into the Master Fight.
6.  Forest Fights;  Player Fights;  Red Dragon Battle:
    Use of the Mind Heal Skill.  A Master Mystic can use 20 skill
    Use points for a complete Healing during a fight, and then
    either continue fighting or retreat (run away).  Ultra Master
    Mystics (they have 40+ Skill Points) can use Mind Heal several
    times per game.  Those who reach 100 Mystic Skill Points, may
    use Mind Heal up to 5 times in a day's game.  Assuming they
    have not used any of the Mystic Skill use points for other
    mystic attack techniques.

Additional Notes:
  1.  If you are a master Mystic, you can use the skill Mind Heal
      to heal ALL wounded hitpoints.  This is far too valuable to
      use at ANY time except during a Player Fight when you are
      close to getting killed.  Unless the player you are attacking
      is too strong, once Healed, you will have a much greater
      chance of winning the fight if you continue it.  Also best
      to save Mind Heal for the Red Dragon Battle on the day you
      choose to take him on.

  2.  If you challenge your current Master in Turgon's Training
      Camp, and defeat him; He will heal you completely, including
      all new hitpoints you are granted.  On a side note, if you
      challenge your master and lose, he will stop short of killing
      you and heal you completely.  But you will not be allowed to
      do any more Master Challenges that day.

  3.  When you find the Fairies in the Forest, if you Ask for a
      Favor, one of the possible results is that a Fairy will kiss
      you.  This completely heals you.  No reward if you are not
      wounded though.

  4.  At various times in the forest, you will find a Fairy Garden.
      You will receive one extra forest fight, and complete Healing.
      Regardless of whether you read the messages or not.

  5.  The Merry Men or Food:  You spend time with friends and are
      Healed, or you find some fruit and eat it, and are Healed.

  6.  The Healers will heal you, but you pay gold for it.  The price
      for each Hitpoint they heal goes up each time you advance a
      level in the game.  If you have excess Hitpoints over your
      current Maximum Hitpoints, the healers will convert the
      excess points and give you gold for them.  Some IGMs will
      give you temporary Hitpoints -- LORD itself does not though,
      with one exception -- use of Jennie Garth code in forest.
      If you choose HOTT, then you get 15% temporary hitpoints.

   7. Leave LORD by quitting to fields or getting room at Inn.
      The next day you play the game, your hitpoints will be at
      maximum at no cost to you.  Any wounded or new hitpoints you
      had at the end of the previous game will be Healed for free.
      Also, provided you haven't been killed by another player
      between game plays, you can return later in a day to play.
      And you will be at maximum hitpoints then as well.

      Notes:  If playing by yourself, save your money, putting it
      all in bank and Quit to Fields.  Earn more compound Interest!

   8. Players with Fairy.  If you're killed, the Fairy brings you
      back to life, Healing all of your Hitpoints in the process.
      You lose the Fairy if you Quit LORD; the game crashes; or
      you enter some IGMs that don't handle things right. Example:
      Warrior's Graveyard v1.70 does not tell LORD you have a fairy
      when it returns control to the game.

   9. The Death Knights' Castle.  When you are taken there, and
      have injuries, they automatically heal them, and you receive
      the energy for another D.K. skill use as well.  This is for
      Masters only, however.

                        IGM Notes, regarding Healing:
                        -----------------------------
LORD Cavern - After correctly guessing Riddler's puzzle, you pick
     up his cane, and are healed.
Werewolf - Howling at the Moon will heal New/wounded hitpoints
     Destroys temporary hitpoints however. (Free).
Love Shack - Buying the Scottish Scotch drink in the Lounge will
     give you Full Healing.  *BUT* you lose 2 strength points also.
Castle of LORD - The Healing Priest.  Don't recall if you get healed
     for free, or for Gold.
Warrior's Graveyard: Can receive full healing from purchase of
     Lemon-Aide.

                     Various LORD Events & Explanations:

  Finding Hammer Stone  - Gives you 1 new Attack Strength point.
  Finding the Old Man   - Take him to the Inn, receive gold
                          and 1 charm point.  Amount varies per
                          level - If he whacks you with stick, you
                          can gain 5 charm or lose 1 charm point.
  The Fairies           - Sad stories give you Gems.
                        - Forest melody gives you Experience points.
                        - Kisses heal any wounded hitpoints.
                        - Can receive a Horse as blessing.
  The Garden            - Full Healing and one more Forest Fight.
                        - View messages from other players.
  The Merry Men         - Full Healing.
  Hear Angels Singing   - Find 2 gems, possibly 3 gems.

                              Acquiring a horse:
Various IGMs either give you a horse for free (?), or sell them to
you at varying prices.  The prices are probably contingent on the
player's level.  In LORD, if one finds the fairies, you can ask for
a blessing.  One result can be a horse.  In Turgon's House, if you
find Fairies in his bedroom's closet, you can request
Transportation.  The Castle Coldrake IGM allows you to buy a horse.
As do some other IGMs.  Drinking from the Spring in Hidden Spring
of Turgon will grant you a horse if you need one.  If you have one,
the drink takes your horse away.
