Prologue:

This file has been written assuming you have registered your game of D2D.
If you haven't, then why not?

1 Introduction:

Since I wrote the game, I am probably the best suited for providing tactics
on the best way to win. Each game of D2D varies depending on several factors.
It is best to know the circumstances of each game while playing:
1) Your goals.
Do you want to finish the game ASAP?
Do you want unlimited warfare?
Do you want a fully functioning game filled with trade, democracy and peace?

2) The BBS.
Are many people playing?
Are only a few people playing?

This document will attempt to outline the best way of playing under the above
conditions.

2 In the Beginning:

Don't waste your first day exploring. If you are on ICE, PLAINS or RIVER then
claim two squares of land and build *two* suburbs. That's right, two. Most
people only build one, but if you begin building right away you can fit
two suburbs into your first day. After that, build farms and electricity
plants. If you find river, build the farms on that, because you get a bonus.
If you find desert, build the electricity on that.

In a game with many people, write a message to all asking for money to be
sent to you in a private trade. Your message should read something like this:

"Hello, I'm a new player, I'll be your best-friend if you could send me some
money. Please?"

This may work, but if it doesn't, remember to keep your head about it!

Remember to claim your full amount of land everyday. Soon money will never
be a problem, but land may be.

3 Missions:

Missions are great fun when there are several empires all the same size as
you doing the missions in roughly the same order. To finish the game you
must complete all the missions, so it is recommended you begin ASAP if you
want to finish the game, but it would not harm you to wait for your empire
to build up before beginning the missions, that way you can come from a
position of strength if there is a conflict with another empire.
The best way to finish missions is through diplomacy and communication. Wars
can be long and bloody, but message writing is quite simple.

4 Beating Green Doona Land:

The last mission takes you to the GDL moon. Take lots of money.
Green Doona Land own about a fourth of the moon, and to finish the mission,
and win the game, you must make sure they own no land. So be warned, if you
do 99% of the work, and someone else comes along and beats GDL on their
final square, they will win!
The best way to quickly reduce the land GDL holds is to use the stone shower.
At $5,000,000 a go though, it is quite expensive, but unless you are
prepared to spend about 8 months fighting GDL, this is the only way.
At the end of every day, teleport back to your world, and teleport onto
your land. That way you get all the money and army that your bases produce
on the home-world.
In a game with many people, you have an option, depending on your goals.
If you are not fanatical about the mission, then you may wish to prolong
the game by keeping you campaign on the GDL moon moving slowly.
Or you can go the hack and spend all your resources trying to destroy GDL.
If you are at war with someone your equal, you may have to decide whether
you can finish the game before they destroy you.
